Welcome to Heroes Martial Arts
Heroes Martial Arts was established in January 2009 to bring the grappling arts of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Judo and Wrestling to downtown San Jose.
At Heroes Martial Arts we pride ourselves on providing a complete curriculum for the grappling arts. The environment is challenging but fair and we work to maximize the potential of each student. Visitors can expect a friendly, safe and clean environment with careful instruction and challenges abounding. We’re tough at Heroes Martial Arts, but you will have a real feeling of satisfaction after every class you’ve attended.
Our student roster comes from all walks of life, and we’re fortunate enough to already have a wide range of ages, talents and abilities already at Heroes Martial Arts. Whether you’ve never set foot on the mat before, or if you consider yourself a seasoned veteran, you will benefit from training at Heroes Martial Arts.
We have a beautiful 4700 square foot facility in downtown San Jose with nearly 2500 square feet of mat space. Our equipment is new and kept rigorously clean. The space is open, with a 20 foot vaulted ceilings and skylights and two industrial strength heaters to warm on cold days. Heroes Martial Arts also boasts a shower so you can clean up before heading back to work.
First class is always free and visitors are always welcome. Please come check us out!

CLIENTS THAT LOVE US
- ~ Phi P.
"I came to Heroes after being invited by my friend to come out and roll. As I walked in to the academy, I was pleasantly surprised to find out big and spacious the mat was. The pictures don't really do it justice how much mat space there is. I was greeted by owner/ head instructor Gumby and openly welcomed into the gym.
The facility is top notch: Swain mats over 2400sqft, restrooms and private changing rooms, water fountain. I came as the team was getting their last training in before a tournament so Gumby worked mainly on fixing small mechanics. His teaching method is very methodical and detail oriented. I felt was very specific in his concept that he wanted to teach. I only expected to come for an open mat and I ended up staying for 2 and half hours.
There are lots of choices in the Silicon Valley for Jiu-jitsu, but I highly recommend Heroes for anybody at any skill level. Not only for the great instruction and facility, but for the friendly environment as well.
I will definitely come back to train here" - ~ William D.
"Great instruction over at Heroes. Everyone is super humble and friendly as I've met quite a few friends at the academy.
The mats space is huge and the place is always kept really clean. Shower and 2 bathrooms to change in.
Attitude is great. Love working out at" - Read more testimonials »
